MYBARRIO Curators: Julia Velázquez, fashion designer.

  • Post category:PEOPLE

Julia Velázquez is one of these creative people from Barcelona, who we follow since the beginning. We first met via Instagram by having similar aesthetics and tastes. And due to coincidences of life, we met again, this time, as members of the Jury at the LCI fashion school, evaluating her collection and her final degree project, “The Project”. Right away, we recognized the photos of Carla Step, her close friend. Today, Julia made the big leap with the creation of her own brand called Julia Velázquez. And there is no doubt that we love it.

Today Julia is part of our local creative community and one of our MYBARRIO Curators. Discover more about them through short questions and their Barcelona tips, exclusively for MYBARRIO online.

Hello Julia, tell us, what do you do and why?

I am a fashion designer with an emerging firm. I dedicate myself to it because although it is one of the things that is the most challenging for me day by day, I manage to find motivation and desire to continue with it.

What is your neighborhood?

I am from Pamplona but I have been in Barcelona for 5 years. I currently live in Gracia.

What is your relationship with design?

I studied fashion design for 4 years, I created my first collection called “The project” and currently I have created my own firm, Julia Velázquez.

How did you start in the creative world?

The truth is that I never thought I would dedicate myself to it, I think I realized it more when I created my first collection, I felt very proud of the result and I had the need to create something.

Why do you identify with MYBARRIO, what does it provide you as a platform?

I find it very enriching to have a platform where you can discover different creators and their designs.
