Labrador #1 Kala” towel by Mirena Ossorno, for Terranova. This collection of towels designed by Mirena Ossorno are the first objects thought with Labrador, a sister section of Terranova that will produce everything that goes beyond vinyl and paper. In fact, it was at the presentation of Gong! #1 at the Pompeya tennis club in Montjuïc that we began to talk about this project and many others that could be made from the suggestive patterns that Mirena had created for this publication. From discards and versions of the patterns of Gong#1! we began to imagine these rectangles of terry cloth where to lie on the beach or pool, with which to dry out of the shower and then make a skirt with it. In terms of color, we thought of choosing colors that would give them a timeless air and away from a defined target, which were totally different but could live well together. At the same time, research was carried out on the different qualities and manufacturing processes, proving that Portugal is, as they say, the best place to manufacture jacquard terry cloth (with which one side is the negative of the other), with lasting quality and avoiding exploitation at work. The final result are these two towels, apparently different but for Mirena they arise from a similar inspiration. Named Kélibia, for blue and white, and Kala, for black and toasted, they pay homage to villages and beaches of the most exotic Mediterranean, or that African coast so close but at the same time so forgotten. The towels come with a small publication of photos of the towels made by our favourite photographers in Barcelona: Alba Yruela, Mar Ordóñez, Claire O’Keefe, Patricia Ruiz del Portal, Berta Pfirsich, Leila Méndez, Rita Puig-Serra, Carla pérez Vas.In addition, for the first 80 towels sold we have thought of a reusable summer packaging: a transparent plastic beach bag with a small detail of our logo designed by Blanca Miró Skoudy.
